Breaze and the G-Generation
By Rebecca Stewart
The G-Generation ads are the proud recipients of this year’s Eco Warrior award for the City of Ballarat Youth Recognition awards!

The City of Ballarat Youth Recognition Awards began as an initiative of the City of Ballarat Youth Council. Started in 2005, the awards came about after the Youth Council felt that young people between 12 and 25 were well acknowledged for school and sporting achievements but there were gaps in acknowledgement for a range of extra-curricular activities such as volunteering, art and music.
In 2008, the City of Ballarat Youth Recognition Awards, supported by Power FM, underwent a transformation. The awards were an opportunity for Ballarat to celebrate youth achievement in areas that are not regularly recognised.
The awards were based on “making a difference”.
There were 13 categories which recognised young people’s efforts in different areas of the community.
The award recognises the effort and enthusiasm put into the advertisements by the young people. The group are very excited by the award and hope the recognition will help spur on more projects and inform the community about Climate Change.
The ads aim to “word up” young people on the effects of Climate Change and to help them understand there is something they can do to help protect the fragile world we live in.
The team of young people would love to sincerely thank our mentors for the project, Jade Smithard, David Brown, and Lisa Kendal, whose hard work, enthusiasm and dedication gave the project what it needed!
The team would also like to thank the City of Ballarat for their recognition of the project and its impact.
