Members of BREAZE, Moorabool Environment Group and Sustainable Hepburn Association and Australian Youth Climate Coalition met with our local MP, Catherine King today. We presented her with a report on the almost 800 face to face conversations our volunteers had with local residents on renewable energy as part of the 100% Renewables campaign. She was very appreciative of the countless hours of work we had done speaking with the community about renewable energy and other issues including the price on pollution. We took the opportunity to let her know we wanted to see the carbon price package deliver for renewable energy. To really drive renewables at local, medium and large scale the package needs to deliver at least $2 billion per annum into a renewable energy finance fund that drives research and commercialisation of genuine renewable energy - not fossil gas, so-called 'clean coal' and the failed pipe dream of carbon capture and storage. If you would like to see this too, you can call Catherine's office on 5338 8123 and let her know your thoughts. She also let us know that she had been singing our praises in parliament.
