2011 - Ballarat Region Best Organic Home Grown Vegetable Competition

BREAZErs love local food. To promote the joy of gardening and eating your own home grown goodies, BREAZE are again sponsoring the Ballarat Region Best Home Grown Organic Vegetable Competition on 11th November 2011.

To enter, you need to submit a creatively arranged collection of freshly picked, home grown vegetables. So it is time to plan what you can enter in November, and take some photos of the vegetables growing in your garden.

Come down and see the great local food display we will have in the Main Pavilion, including activities and information from:

• BREAZE Local Food Group
• The Smart Living Centre
• Refit N' Save
• Ballarat Community Garden
• Buninyong Community Garden
• Ballarat Permaculture Guild

  Guidelines:

• Minimum of 2 different types of vegetables.
• You are able to use herbs as part of your arrangement, but they are not counted as a vegetable.
• The primary criteria for judging is the quality of vegetables
• Points are awarded for tasteful/creative display
• Extra points are awarded for a photo of each vegetable used in your arrangement, growing in your garden
• Pumpkins from the Autumn of 2009 are acceptable
• Vegetables MUST be organically grown in your garden (this includes your garden bed at a community garden)
• Arrangement to be presented for judging by 12.00pm on Friday 11th November, 2010
• Your vegetables will be on display for the duration of the show, so encourage your friends and family to come along to see them!
• Winners will be photographed on location in their garden
• Results of the competition will be published in the Courier

DATE AND VENUE FOR JUDGING: 12.00pm on Friday 11th November 2011 for judging, Ballarat Showgrounds.

Take your entries to the Showgrounds on the corner of Howitt St and Creswick Rd. You can drive straight into the showgrounds through the gate on Howitt St. At the 2nd street on the right in the showgrounds is the office, where you can leave your Vegetable Arrangement, or if you know our position in the main pavilion you can bring it into us.
