Say Yes Earth Relay comes to Ballarat PDF Print E-mail
Engaging Government - Current Campaigns

SayYesBecause_PosterJoin us and have your photo taken with an enormous inflatable earth globe that's being passed across Victoria, on it's way to Canberra.

The idea is to show our support for a price on pollution. Bring the family along for a little light fun during the day and send a positive 'YES' message to Canberra.

Come and join us this Monday 3 October, 2pm, outside the Ballarat Town Hall on Sturt Street.

The relay is being coordinated by our friends at Environment Victoria:
"Like the passage of the Olympic flame, communities across Victoria will be passing an inflatable human sized earth globe (it’s seriously that big – check it out) from suburb to suburb until it reaches Canberra in time for the passing of the carbon price legislation through parliament.

It’s our symbol of what we are trying to protect and our hope for a cleaner, greener world. We hope will inspire communities across Victoria and have a positive impact on Parliament House come November."

Show your Support for Chepstowe Wind Farm PDF Print E-mail
Engaging Government - Current Campaigns

ChepstoweTurbineSite_smlBREAZE members have long excelled in their efforts to reduce their emissions and embrace renewable energy. But one of our members, Neville Oddie, is going well and truly above the call of duty by hosting a 3-turbine, 6 megawatt wind farm on his farm in Chepstowe, 30km west of Ballarat.

After 4 years of hard yakka, BREAZE has assisted in the installation of around 500 kilowatts of solar panels. If this project goes ahead, the turbines will produce 12 times that figure in one hit!

But the plans of the developer, Future Energy, have hit a snag with the Victorian Planning Minister, Matthew Guy, calling in the project. This effectively means that the Minister is now the sole decision maker on whether the turbines go up or not.

Can you help us boost the amount of renewable energy generated in the Ballarat region by sending a letter of support for the project to the Planning Minister?

Fifty BREAZE volunteers spent last weekend distributing a scorecard to 10,000 homes around Ballarat. It rated the climate policies of the three major parties and its message was clear. If you don’t like the climate policies of the party you vote for, don’t vote for them.
