(Do I see a patch of BREAZE blue in the sign? Click on the photo to see the full sized image) Instead of organising our own Walk Against Warming this year, an intrepid bunch of BREAZErs jumped on the train and headed down to the Melbourne event. When we got there we found we were part of a crowd of 40,000. What a blast! We were joined on our train trip by other Walkers from Hamilton, Ararat and Bacchus Marsh. Other groups came from as far as Portland in the West, Albury-Wodonga in the North and Gippsland in the East. There were speakers from the Fire Services talking about how much more intense this years' bushfires were than previous years and a Tuvalu-born Australian describing how the cost of failure at Copenhagen will be nothing less than the end of her homeland. Then the lot of us marched from the State Library down to Princes Bridge to form the human sign SAFE CLIMATE - DO IT! Lots more info, photos and videos at http://waw.org.au/ Or, see our happy snaps below! VigilThe night before, we joined together in front of Ballarat Town Hall for a vigil to remind our leaders in Copenhagen of the importance of a real deal based on carbon dioxide targets of 350ppm. It was lovely gathering, with a number of new faces. See the Courier's write up on the night here Of course, this vigil was only one of 3000 vigils that took place on the same night in 139 countries all around the world. This 90 second video from 350.org tells the story of a movement that's growing all the time. Walk Against Warming photos
