Fanny Armstrong, (well known for her movie “McLibel”), boldly explores Climate Change issues, including Consumerism, Peak Oil, aspirations of the third World and the hypocrisy of the first World in not taking responsibility for consumption while the clock ticks away and we loose the chance to avoid the “tipping point” (estimated at 2015) to prevent uncontrollable Climate Change. The movie has Peter Postlewaite the only man still standing in 2055. He is an Archivist, and is looking back on this time (2008) through real footage of six different lives, and he is asking, “Why didn’t we save ourselves while we had the chance?” It is compelling, yet sometimes disturbing viewing, a wake up call that is too important to be ignored, especially if we care for the future, our children/grandchildren and want to be responsible global citizens. We must ACT now and “The Age of Stupid” gives us the motivation to act, not only personally but also to demand our Government take strong action at Copenhagen in December to support all the countries of the world to take the action demanded by the science. We must prove the future depicted in this movie wrong by making enough of the right choices and taking the right actions NOW to avoid the disaster awaiting the planet and everything on it. “The Age of Stupid” is currently showing at the “Regent Movie Theatre” and will be released internationally in September.
