Many will have heard and read material from the people above and this is your chance to hear them in non-disembodied form. David Spratt has emerged as a key leader in Climate Change action in Australia and some of his ideas are viewable at http://www.carbonequity.info/ Dr Diesendorf is making a return trip and he has a brand spanking new book to boot called “Climate Action: A Campaign Manual for Greenhouse Solutions”. There will be the odd copy floating around at the Forum if you want to get one – check it out at: http://www.unswpress.com.au/isbn/9781742230184.htm Richard Dennis is the media’s go-to man on all things renewable, political and economical and he has recently been giving the CPRS a right shellacking. Given that he is a trained economist, he is, somewhat surprisingly, a very comedic fellow. Let’s see if he can make us laugh, through our firmly gritted teeth. You can get a taste of his razor sharp wit by listening to the audio files at http://www.ata.org.au/news/listen-to-the-audio-files-of-can-emissions-trading-save-the-planet The Forum will be chaired by Ms Jane Knight, professional facilitator, and Professor Peter Gell of the University of Ballarat. Information stands at the Forum will provide simple tools and ideas for making changes at home and for taking community action to deal with Climate Change impacts. To give you an idea of the type of information discussed at last years forum, the presentation slides and links to the ABC Local Radio podcasts (audio) are available from the 2008 Climate Change Forum article. Sponsors and supporters:The event is hosted by Earth Matters, a partnership between local climate action group BREAZE, The Courier and The University of Ballarat. Earth Matters is an ongoing campaign to raise public awareness on environmental issues in Ballarat and the surrounding region. The City of Ballarat is a major sponsor of the event. Mt Mercer Wind Farm is a proud supporter of the Forum. This Forum event is made possible by the support from select organisations that support local solutions to climate change including Ballarat Grammar, The City of Ballarat, Central Highlands Water, Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (CMA), Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE), and Mt Mercer Wind Farm. |
