Community Engagement and Education - Community Events

BREAZE celebrated its 4th Birthday in November 2010.

Around 50 members rolled up at the Eureka Hall to listen to some great music and enjoy the treats available at the cake stand.

Our thanks to Wendy, who coordinated the cake stall. And our wonderful musicians: Andrew Bray & the Bray Family singers (plus the little girl in pink who jumped up on stage to join them, you've got a career in front of you!). Hedley Thomson, the Unconventional Cellist, Kristin Rule, Anna and David Bilbrough (aka BREAZE Office Manager).

Below are some pics from the day - check out Kristin's bicycle, which is assisted by a solar powered trailer that carries her cello!

AYCCPS

Imagine walking into a room full of hundreds of people all energised, empowered and ready to jump into action on climate change.

The Australian Youth Climate Coalition is holding a youth summit called Power Shift in
Geelong that will change the way you see the climate crisis
. Power Shift
will inspire you, give you new skills, connect you with other awesome people and give you the power to make a difference.

BREAZE are pleased to announce that we will fund two Ballarat youth to attend Geelong's Power Shift Summit ($55 per ticket!). Email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call 5329 1730.

Sound like you? Come to Power Shift 2010 in Geelong August 14-15.

Why now? Because there will be a federal election in the next few months and at the moment, neither major political party has a strong climate policy.

We think that's just not good enough. At the AYCC we have a positive, achievable vision for
Australia's renewable energy future, and Power Shift will give us the skills to turn this into reality. Together we're going to plan how to shift the power to a clean, sustainable future.

Tell me more about Power Shift 2010.

Power Shift is part conference, part festival, part training, part celebration of the power of young people to change the world, and so much more. You will listen to amazing keynote speakers, participate in hands on workshops, connec t with people from your region, hear live music and make new friends. But most of all, you will join a generation-wide movement and gain the new skills, resources and networks you need to lead creative climate actions in your community.

Speakers in Geelong include John Thwaites former Deputy Premier of Victoria, Arron Wood 2008 Environmentalist of the Year and author, Professor David Karoly who worked on the IPCC reports, Ben McNiel talking about climate solutions, and John Hepburn from Greenpeace, Dan Adams organiser of the Make Poverty History concerts and 2008 Young Victorian of the Year, Liz Minchin editor of The Saturday Age.
